Montréal Police (known as Service de Police Ville de Montréal or SPVM) are taking operational monitoring of events to a new level with a state-of-the-art Command and Information Processing Center featuring Christie TotalVIEW™ control room technology. SPVM typically manages approximately 100 planned events and 25 unanticipated events a year. From festivals to demonstrations, to Stanley Cup victories or natural disasters such as ice storms, SPVM must always be in a position to identify situations that might deteriorate and be able to respond swiftly.
SPVM's new Command Center was created to centralize and analyze all information, and enable the operations commander with optimal decision-making tools in times of major events. During such times, internal and external parties such as police officers and representatives from the RCMP, Intelligence, Legal Affairs, and Communications are able to gather and share information as a group, monitor activities and make informed decisions on critical issues.
AEL demonstrated numerous potential solutions for SPVM over the course of a seven-year sales cycle. With due diligence, SPVM selected the Christie TotalVIEW™ solution now in use. The main factors in their decision were the reliability and long working life of the TotalVIEW™ solution, and the performance and high resolution of the projection system. The selected Christie TotalVIEW™ solution was installed by AEL in 2001.
